Strategic Plan and Annual Plan

Introduction

The Board of Trustees is accountable for the performance of Berhampore School. Strategic planning (and reporting) helps our school and community work together to establish shared goals and objectives. It also allows us to reflect on how well we’re doing to serve our community – looking at areas of greatest need, and planning to make a meaningful difference for our children.

The Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan sets out our high level goals for the next 3 years, and gives direction to the school for what we want to achieve. An effective strategic plan should clearly state what the goals and objectives are for our school, and be based on the mission and values of the school community.

Our Strategic Plan 2022-2025 is also the mechanism through which we make sense of the The Education and Training Act 2020, Board Primary Objectives and the National Education and Learning Priorities (NELPs) in the context of Berhampore School. The strategic plan reflects this legislative framework as well as the views of our community and the special character of our school (Montessori).

The Annual Plan

The goals and objectives in the strategic plan form the basis for the annual plan and budget undertaken by the Senior Management Team, and inform key processes such as the Principal’s performance agreement, staff professional development and resource allocation throughout the year.

At the end of each year, the Senior Management team reflects on the year, and writes an Analysis of Variance, which looks at the actions set out in the Annual Plan and compares them with what actually happened, and what the results of this were.

The other major reporting document the school produces each year is the Annual Report – a summary of what happened for the year, financial statements and auditors report, as well as including the Analysis of Variance.
