About the Board of Trustees

The Berhampore School Board of Trustees is committed to the continued development of the best possible educational opportunities for the children of Berhampore School. The Berhampore School Board of Trustees is elected every three years by the school community to govern the school. This involves the development and ratification of school policies, community consultation and supporting the management team responsible for the day to day running of the school. The key responsibilities of a school Board of Trustees are:

  • development and ongoing review of the school charter.

  • monitoring and reviewing your school’s progress.

  • putting in place a policy framework.

  • employing the principal.

  • managing assets.

  • ensuring your school’s legal compliance.

  • implementing the National Education Guidelines.

The Berhampore School Board of Trustees meets twice per term in the school staffroom. Parents/ caregivers are welcome to attend meetings. Check the school calendar or ask the office staff for meeting dates. Copies of meeting minutes, agendas and reports are available from the school office. Annual Report

All schools and kura must prepare an annual report under section 87 of the Education Act 1989. The annual report is a key accountability document that school boards are required to prepare to inform and report to stakeholders including the Ministry, Members of Parliament, parents, and the wider community of schools and kura.

It shows how school boards have applied their financial resources to achieve the goals set out in their charter.
