Our Community
Berhampore School has a number of parent groups. These groups make a vital contribution to supporting the school by improving the resources, environment and experiences our children have while at Berhampore School
We actively welcome involvement from all of our whānau. As children move on from the school we are always needing new members to join these groups and getting involved is a great way to meet others in the school community.
Keep an eye out on school newsletters and notices for upcoming activities for these groups, or follow them on Facebook to keep up-to-date with what is coming up.
Berhampore Fundraising Group
The Berhampore Fundraising Group is the school fundraising group. Government funding covers the basics, but we aim to raise funds to help fill the gap between the basics and the items our classrooms teachers and kids need for a great learning journey.
The Berhampore Fundraising Group work with the teachers and students to run fundraising and social events for the school throughout the year. Past events have included Knack craft markets, quiz nights, movie nights, hangis, food fairs, raffles and much more!
Funds raised are used to support school activities. Over the past few years, money raised has provided new furniture, additional literacy and numeracy resources for classrooms, subsidised field trips and school camps, supported school sports teams and programmes in school and contributed to new technology resources.
If you have a little time, a fabulous idea, or simply want to get involved, please come along to one of the monthly meetings, or email us at berhamporefundraising@gmail.com. Meeting dates can be found in the school Kōrero newsletters.
Knack craft market
Knack is the school’s major fundraising event and happens once a term with lots of helping hands from parent volunteers. A craft market with a great atmosphere, Knack has a well-established reputation for high-quality New Zealand craft.
Stallholders from all over Wellington and beyond come to the school hall to display and sell their items. If you are interested in volunteering at Knack, helping with the publicity, or are keen to have a stall, please send an email to knack.market@gmail.com.
BS3G
BS3G is the school’s grounds and gardening group. The group looks after the planting around the school, including the vegetable gardens and fruit trees in the forest area. The group also contributes to improving the built environment and has worked on playground equipment, scooter racks, fencing and drainage. We hold monthly working bees, usually on the second Sunday of every month from 9-11 am. We also hold a special working bee just before school starts for the year to make the school welcoming and safe for students and teachers.
All whānau are welcomed at working bees – tamariki too – and no ongoing commitment is required. We do maintain an email list; please feel free to contact berhamporeschool3g@gmail.com for more information or if you’d like to join the mailing list.
You can check the school’s Facebook page here for details of our next working bee.
